I feel compelled to share, Brad had a call from a very distressed elderly lady last week, he went to visit her and assessed the situation, she has spent over $12,000.00 cash on a bathroom renovation with an under qualified, unlicensed tradesman that has no insurance and clearly no conscience!

Her finished bathroom is a total mess, second hand parts have been installed, the shower head leaks where it should not, the water from the shower has no fall at all so the water very quickly runs out of the shower area towards the walls and out the door into the hall way………

The dodgy contractor (not mentioning any names) has broken lots of QBCC laws and regulations that are put in place to protect the consumer and now he won’t even respond to the poor ladies phone calls!

When renovating or engaging contractors it is important to check the licensing status of any contractor you are considering hiring! Please buyer beware and do a licence search before you hand over any money to any contractor!

In Queensland, individuals and companies must hold a QBCC licence to carry out:

  • Any building work valued over $3,300
  • Building work valued over $1,100 where it involves hydraulic services design
  • Building work of any value where it involves the following:Electrical services, Plumbing and Drainage, Gas Fitting, Termite Management-Chemical, Fire Protection, Completed Residential Building Inspection, Building Design – Low Rise, Medium Rise and Open and Site Classification.
